Experimental study on compressive behavior of PE-ECC under impact load

Compared with polyvinyl alcohol-engineered cementitious composites (PVA-ECC), engineered containing polyethylene fibers (PE-ECC) has captured the attention of researchers because lower cost. Nevertheless, there is a limited amount research that focuses on their dynamic behavior. Thus, specimens different water binder ratios were tested by split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) to unveil compressive behavior PE-ECC. The behaviors analyzed based tests, including failure modes, stress-strain curves, strength, peak strain, and toughness. result shows PE-ECC excellent ductility, long post-peak descending part in relations. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis reveals strain rate most crucial factor directly affects toughness monotonic fashion.
